SDSU Imperial Valley is a college and branch campus of San Diego State University, situated approximately 120 miles from the main campus in San Diego, on the border with Mexico in Imperial County. For the 2026‑2027 academic year, we are seeking lecturers with a graduate degree in Social Work (MSW) and a minimum of two years of postgraduate experience in the field. In addition to new applicants, existing SDSU Imperial Valley Social Work lecturers are required to reapply each year to be considered for appointment. Temporary appointments may be either full‑ or part‑time. Appointments from the part‑time pool are often made just before the start of the academic term, so applicants must be available on very short notice. The Fall term begins in mid‑August and ends in late December; the Spring term begins in mid‑January and ends in mid‑May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. Initial appointments are typically for one semester or one academic year and are renewable contingent upon satisfactory evaluations and the continuing availability of work. Applications will remain in our applicant pool for the academic year in which you submit your application. Qualifications Criteria Graduate degree in Social Work required from a CSWE‑accredited MSW program for teaching social work practice courses and highly preferred for other teaching areas At least two years of post‑Masters related experience Demonstrated currency in subject matter University teaching experience preferred We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. Disclosures shall be provided to the San Diego State University Center for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination for further adjudication. Please contact View email address on click.appcast.io . As part of its commitment to a safe and equitable “OneSDSU” community, SDSU requires that individuals seeking faculty employment provide at the time of application authorization to conduct background checks if they become a finalist for the position; applications without this authorization will be considered incomplete and not considered. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
