Summary: Responsibilities: Assureproperspecimencollectionandsubmissionpriortoaccessioning. Assist clinicians with specimen collection questions. Obtain and review pertinent clinical information and history, including imaging studies, laboratory results, and operative records. Perform the macroscopic description and dissection of all surgical specimens ranging from simple to complex cases including pertinent macroscopic information for the staging of complex cancer cases. Preparationsnecessaryforhumanpost-mortem examination. Prepares tissue for frozen section for pathologist, not diagnosing, and other intra-operative consultation, within established protocol and procedural parameters. Participatesinspecimenstorageanddisposal,andthemaintenanceofreagentsandequipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Other information: KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

MINIMUMEDUCATION QUALIFICATION Ma ster’sdegreeasaPathologyAssistantandboardcertified/eligible.Progressivelyresponsible professional/exempt work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education. MINIMUMEXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION No n-supervisory-Atleast one)1yearofexperiencedirectlyrelatedtothedutiesandresponsibilities specified. PREFERREDCERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION Current certification from the American Association of Pathologists’ Assistant or the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is preferred.
