Learning Coach, Alpha - $120,000/year USD

The curriculum is already designed. The AI already handles instruction. Your role is to help a child accomplish something they believed was beyond their reach. At Alpha, students finish their academic coursework in only two hours daily through adaptive learning systems. This allows Guides to concentrate on transformational work: cultivating confidence, perseverance, communication skills, and the drive to take on difficult challenges. Your day won't involve standing before a class delivering content. Instead, you'll coach students through obstacles, recognize achievements, and demonstrate what rigorous standards look like when combined with authentic support. You’ll guide one K-3 cohort band - either Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Half your time involves facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback. The remaining half is dedicated to individual and small-group coaching, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every child progresses toward challenging weekly objectives. Every moment counts. Students should emerge from your workshops more skilled than when they entered and finish coaching sessions with expanded belief in their capabilities. This position isn't suited for someone seeking to deliver predetermined lessons or oversee a traditional classroom. What You Will Be Doing Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops that guide K-3 students toward mastery of communication, concentration, feedback, and other enduring competencies through hands-on engagement rather than passive listening. Provide individualized and small-group coaching, utilizing Coachbot analytics, validated motivation frameworks, and meaningful relationships to ensure every child remains on pace for challenging weekly learning targets. Evaluate life-skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2Pass system, continuing to coach students until they exhibit genuine competence - not merely attendance. Modify your coaching approach to match the developmental stage of your cohort, whether through songs, physical activity, and narratives for younger children or increased autonomy and responsibility for older students. Establish relationships where students feel secure enough to push past their perceived limitations. What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering academic instruction from the front of the room. Students acquire academic knowledge through adaptive technology. Creating lesson plans from the ground up. You'll refine and customize established playbooks rather than designing new material. Observing students as they quietly complete computer-based work. Your function is hands-on coaching, encouragement, and relationship-building. Reducing standards when students face difficulties. Progress happens by elevating students to meet the target, not adjusting the target downward. Overseeing homework assignments, evaluating papers, or conducting standard parent correspondence. Learning Coach Key Responsibilities Develop a K-3 cohort of students who are enthusiastic about attending school, regularly meet challenging learning targets, and acquire the life skills that equip them for long-term success beyond elementary education. Basic Requirements Willing to work on-site at one of Alpha's campuses. Relocation assistance is available. Bachelor's degree in any subject. At least 3 years of experience working directly with children ages 4-9 through teaching, coaching, tutoring, camps, youth programs, or similar environments. Experience leading group activities for young children, with a concrete example of the structure or routine you used and how you kept the group engaged. A track record of motivating young children to achieve challenging goals, with specific examples of your impact. A concrete example of changing your approach based on feedback and the result. Comfort using AI-powered learning while focusing your own energy on coaching, motivation, and life-skill development. The ability to balance warmth with unwavering expectations. Legal authorization to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Nice-to-have Requirements Experience in youth sports, children's theater, camp leadership, Montessori, progressive education, or high-engagement after-school programs. Personal experience achieving ambitious goals in academics, athletics, or your career. Outstanding storytelling or performance skills that naturally capture the attention of young children. Evidence of helping reluctant or shy children become confident, engaged participants.
