Full-Time Position

San Diego Hebrew Day School is seeking a warm, skilled, and mission-aligned Elementary Hebrew Teacher & Israel Education Associate to join our faculty.

The ideal candidate will bring a love of Hebrew language, a strong connection to Israel, and the ability to create an engaging, structured, and joyful classroom environment. This role is a full-time position that combines lead teaching responsibilities in the elementary school, assistant teaching responsibilities in the middle school, and support for Israel Education special programming.

Position Overview

The Elementary Hebrew Teacher & Israel Education Associate will be responsible for teaching Hebrew language to students in 2nd–4th grade . In addition, the teacher will assist the Middle School Hebrew teacher for two periods per day and help support Israel Education special programming throughout the school year.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach Hebrew language classes to students in grades 2–4.

• Develop students’ Hebrew vocabulary, reading, comprehension, speaking, and writing skills.

• Create engaging and developmentally appropriate Hebrew lessons.

• Build a positive classroom culture rooted in warmth, structure, respect, and high expectations.

• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a range of learners.

• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen Hebrew language learning across grade levels.

• Assist the Middle School Hebrew teacher for two periods per day.

• Support Israel Education programming, including special events, schoolwide programs, holiday programming, and Israel-related initiatives.

• Help students build a meaningful and age-appropriate connection to Hebrew language, Medinat Yisrael, and Am Yisrael.

• Communicate professionally and thoughtfully with students, colleagues, and parents.

• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and schoolwide events as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Strong Hebrew language skills required; native or near-native Hebrew fluency preferred.

• Prior teaching experience preferred, especially in an elementary school or Jewish day school setting.

• Ability to create engaging, organized, and student-centered lessons.

• Warmth, patience, flexibility, and strong classroom management skills.

• Commitment to the mission and values of an Orthodox Jewish day school.

• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and families.

• Passion for helping children develop a meaningful connection to Hebrew language and Israel.
