Program Aide

Location: San Angelo Corps, San Angelo, TX Position Type: Program Aide About this opportunity: Leads children's activities at an after-school program, including classroom training, tutoring, sports activities, bible study, computer programs and specialized programs; prepares and serves children lunch and snacks; assists in leading field trips; maintains the cleanliness of the after-school area; transports passengers in a Salvation Army vehicle. Key responsibilities: Provides constant care for the needs of the children in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner. Prepares and serves children snacks and meals; ensures that children receive nutritional and tasteful food; provides positive, relaxed atmosphere during children's mealtime encouraging conversation. Develops and implements lesson plans which are age-group program specific; utilizes age-group appropriate discovery areas, enriched with program-specific activities, including teacher-made materials and hands-on activities. What we are looking for in you: High school diploma or G.E.D. One to two years' experience teaching child development programs, Valid State Driver's License Ability to pass all state licensing background checks. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability to observe children and ensure their safety. Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely observing all laws, regulations, and policies. Ability to pass DOT requirements to drive a Salvation Army midbus or other DOT vehicle if requested. Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) frequently. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor environment where there may be physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
