Senior Staff Technical Project Manager - Spark Product Development and NPI

About the Role:

The "Spark" modular data center is Crusoe’s answer to congested grid queues and labor bottlenecks, enabling rapid deployment of compute capacity. To meet our ambitious deployment goals through 2030, we need world-class product development (PD) and new product introduction (NPI) execution. We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to own the new product development process for our Spark product roadmap. You will be responsible for the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from scoping and planning, to the detailed design through First-Of-A-Kind builds.

This role will be based out of our Denver office in Cherry Creek, with frequent travel to our Brighton, CO manufacturing facility and infrequent travel (less than 10%) to other sites as needed.

What You'll Be Working On:

New Product Development

• Project Management: Manage the schedule, budget, and scope for Spark design programs - new product generations, incremental upgrades, or sub-assembly workstreams - from concept to mass production, including driving the Design-to-BoM process with respective stakeholders.

• Requirements Management: Synthesize inputs from a large cross-functional team to capture engineering/design requirements and drive product-level decision making in partnership with product managers and design leads.

• New Product Introduction: Partner with Crusoe’s manufacturing team to ensure the Spark can be produced reliably at scale. Drive consensus on configuration management, rev control, and the myriad of details required to take a design from CAD to the shop floor.

• Risk Mitigation: Foster a culture of proactive risk identification and mitigation.

• Phase Gate Rigor: Collaborate with the Spark Business Unit to bring phase gate rigor to our development projects, plan and host key milestone reviews. Meticulously record lessons learned and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.

Cross-Functional Orchestration

• Internal Connectivity: Serve as the connective tissue between the diverse set of internal and external stakeholders required to bring first of a kind designs to fruition.

• Design Process Cadence: Schedule, plan, and run team meetings and multi-day design reviews with clear agendas, minutes, and action items.

• Contractor Management : Manage the scope of 3rd-Party firms to accelerate our time to market and to amplify Crusoe’s internal expertise.

• Reporting: Provide high-fidelity project status updates for the executives, focusing on predictability and critical path items, coordinating with the Lead Technical Project Manager to help develop, manage and distribute a Spark deployments dashboard.

What You'll Bring to the Team:

• A Safety-First Approach: A relentless commitment to safety. Demonstrated expertise leading FMEA & risk tracking for complex product development programs.

• Product Development Leadership: 8-12+ years of experience managing high-tech physical product development programs and first-of-a-kind projects (e.g. data centers, distributed energy/energy OEM, advanced manufacturing, electric vehicles, modular construction). Mastery of more than one New Product Development stage-gate processes (e.g. LOD, APQP, TRL, etc.)

• Schedule Mastery: Demonstrated expertise in scheduling software; you leverage schedules as a proactive decision making tool.

• Technical Acumen: Evidence of technical breadth and curiosity to manage engineering requirements, evaluate trade-offs, connect the dots, and surface risks across electrical, mechanical, structural, EHS, network engineering, and manufacturing.

• Vendor & Contract Management: Experience managing and coordinating across multiple third-party service providers whose deliverables impact the critical path.

• Manufacturing Scale-Up: First-hand experience in manufacturing environments, collaborating with manufacturing and NPI teams on prototype and first-of-a-kind builds. A strong grasp of the product development prerequisites to enable reliable and repeatable manufacturing at scale, as well as an understanding of LOD drawing stages.

• BOM & PLM Fluency: Experience managing and structuring complex bills of materials, product configurations, part numbering schemes, and direct experience with one or more Product Lifecycle Management tools.

• Exceptional Communication and Organization: Knows how to read the room and adjust communication styles accordingly. Sets a high bar for clear, concise, and credible communication. A steady hand at the wheel during periods of ambiguity or change, while guiding the team toward world class project management practices.

• Influence without Authority: An ability to guide project teams to success using trust, persuasion, diplomacy, persistence, and collaboration instead of formal job titles or direct reporting structures.

• Resilience: Proven ability to drive projects to completion despite global supply chain headwinds or technical uncertainty. Ensure a “no surprise” mentality on project timelines, schedules, budgets and deployments with alternatives identified such that projects remain on schedule and within budget.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. PMP or CAPM certification preferred.

Bonus Points

• Advanced Degrees: A preferred degree or field of study in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• Industry Certifications: Active Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Data Center Design Professional (CDCDP) certifications.

• Software Suite: Autodesk Forma & Revit modeling & BlueBeam

• Extended Experience: 8+ years managing large-scale, hyper-scale, or modular data center designs.

• Passion for Artificial Intelligence: Demonstrated passion for the industry and the leading technologies enabling next-generation data center design.

This role is not a good fit if :

• You lack exposure to the complexities of multi-disciplinary physical product and infrastructure development

• Your experience is limited to software project management

• You’re primarily comfortable with product strategy, and shy away from the details of product development execution

• You do not have experience managing BOMs and/or PLM systems

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $175,000-$215,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
