Step into a rewarding and impactful temporary contract opportunity as an ASL Paraprofessional supporting a kindergarten student in an educational setting. In this vital role, you'll assist a young learner who is Deaf/Hard of Hearing, ensuring full access to instructional activities and classroom participation through American Sign Language. Your expertise will contribute directly to the student’s academic and social growth during morning and early afternoon school hours.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional in a school environment preferred
- Experience working with young children or early elementary-aged students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both educators and students
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for supporting diverse learners
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation and academic support for a kindergarten female student
- Facilitate communication between the student, their peers, and instructional staff
- Assist with classroom tasks and transitions as needed
- Encourage student engagement and participation in all classroom activities
- Help implement individualized education plan (IEP) goals in daily routines
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive, and safe learning environment
This assignment runs weekdays from 8:15am to 2:50pm, with two short breaks and a half-hour unpaid lunch included. You’ll have the chance to make a significant difference in a student’s educational journey while building valuable experience in a supportive setting.
