Shop Technician Trainee-NBU Heavy Equipment

Overview Entry‑level position with a 3‑year training plan to become a shop/field technician. Assist in mechanical repairs and services on a full line of heavy equipment and attachments. Responsibilities Champion a “Safety First”, “Customer Focused” and a “Continuous improvement” culture. Enforce and adhere to all company policies, procedures, standards, and values. Maintain excellent customer and employee relations. Work safely at all times. Adhere to all VCES safety guidelines, policies, and practices. Assist shop/field technicians with repair jobs as needed. Attend training classes when assigned to increase equipment knowledge. Service and repair work for this position will only be performed under close supervision. Some knowledge in diagnosing, testing and repairing heavy equipment and related machinery. Some understanding of basic repair diagrams and schematics. Ability to work on or around heavy construction equipment, which requires climbing and accessing hard to reach areas. Consistent follow through on all job facets. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Minimum of 2 years’ experience working on construction, automotive, agriculture, or mechanical related equipment. Prior experience in the construction equipment industry preferred. Possesses a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. Must possess a set of tools sufficient to perform the job as required. Maintains a high level of customer satisfaction. Willingly accepts responsibility and is flexible to any assignment. Willingly works overtime when needed to complete an assigned task. Additional Requirements Requires prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing, frequent stooping, bending, crouching, and overhead reaching, with occasional climbing of stairs and steps or stepladder. Requires occasional lifting, pulling, carrying, or pushing objects or materials over 50 lbs; and may frequently lift, pull, carry, or push objects or materials up to 30 lbs. May occasionally work around loud, noisy, and dusty equipment and environment. Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. Must be able to safely and properly handle pneumatic and electric tools. Compensation & Benefits Base pay $19.00 – $23.00 per hour, with bonus eligibility where applicable.
