Job TitleEssential Functions:Implements Patient Care protocols including: vital signs, specimen collection, PPD placement and/or reading, hearing and vision testing as directedFollows and demonstrates strict infection control guidelines to ensure proper clinic environmentAssists clinicians/providers during patient evaluations as needed, including acting as chaperonePerforms phlebotomyAdministers PPD's as ordered and as neededObtains and processes laboratory specimens, per protocolsReviews chart prior to patient's departure for follow-up appointments, prescriptions and/or referralsCommunicates with Scheduling Department to coordinate health care for clientsEnsures that all patients have been assessed and have understanding of all instructions prior to leaving the clinicParticipates with clinical staff for in-service training, to ensure that nursing staff functions meet quality improvement standardsAttends supervision, conferences, and agency meetings as directed by Clinic Flow ManagerImplements recommendations from the Quality Improvement Team and Infection Control Committee, as requestedDisposes of medical and hazardous waste, as per OSHA guidelines and clinic protocolsMaintains temperature log books, medication inventory logs of lab and PPD log, quality control logs including for and CLIA-waived labsAssignment, Review and Approval of WorkThe Clinic Flow Manager may assign other duties, assignments and special projects as needed.Environment:The office is temperature-controlled and the noise level is kept to a minimum in accordance with professional office practices. The agency observes a no-smoking policy.EMR Access includes the following actions/areas:Scanning, Triage, PMH/Vital, Orders, Immunizations/PPD, Telephone EncountersRequirementsBackground and Education: Current New York State Medical Assistant certification; appropriate certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation; three to five years' experience in nursing profession with supervisory experience; proficiency in Spanish preferred.
