Remote MSSE Lecturer - Computational Science

Lecturer (in lieu of GSI) Pool - Molecular Science and Software Engineering (MSSE) - College of Chemistry Position title: Lecturer in lieu of GSI Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. The current full-time salary range for this position is $70,977-$199,722. Percent time: Variable Anticipated start: Positions usually start in June, August, and January. Review timeline: Screening of applications begins immediately; some appointments may begin in Summer 2025. The number of positions varies from semester to semester. Applicants are considered for positions as needs arise. The existence of this pool does not guarantee that a position is available. Position Description The College of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of temporary instructors to assist in teaching graduate courses online for the Master of Molecular Science and Software Engineering (MSSE) Program. Disciplines: Computational Chemistry Scientific Computing Bioinformatics Machine Learning/Deep Learning High Performance Computing Complex mathematical modeling and simulations Computational Quantum Chemistry Leadership, management, and entrepreneurship in a computational science company or organization General Duties Assist or lead lectures Lead or assist in labs or discussions Grading assignments Submitting/maintaining student records Responding to student questions Tutoring students Holding regular office hours Course material preparation Attending relevant meetings and orientations The MSSE Program seeks candidates who support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy. Qualifications Basic: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a bachelor's degree program. Additional (required at time of start): A bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) and authorization to work in the U.S. Preferred: A master's degree (or equivalent international degree) in an area related to computational science, computational chemistry, bioinformatics, data science, high performance computing, mathematical modeling and simulations, or software engineering.
