Neuro Anesthesiologist

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine, and Pain Management at our organization is currently undergoing significant growth. The Neuroanesthesia and Perioperative Neurosciences Division is dedicated to providing perioperative care for patients undergoing both elective and emergency neurosurgical and neuro-interventional procedures at our facilities, including the University Hospital (560 beds), Jackson Memorial Hospital (1550 beds), and the Ryder Trauma Center, which serves around 5,000 patients each year. Our division plays a crucial role in the perioperative experience, ensuring optimal care through robust collaboration with neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical teams. Our commitment to enhancing lives is further exemplified by our association with the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center and the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis at UHealth/Jackson Memorial. Annually, we conduct over 1,000 spine surgeries, 1,000 neurological procedures, and 300 neuro-interventional interventions.

Employment Requirements:

• Applicants must have completed a residency in Anesthesiology accredited in the U.S. and possess at least one year of fellowship training in Neuro-anesthesiology or equivalent training and certification.

• Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology is mandatory for this role. (Equivalence to board certification will be assessed individually).

• While prior research experience is not a prerequisite, it is highly valued.

Job Description:

• The selected candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care, engaging in educational activities, and contributing to research initiatives.

• Active participation in clinical/basic research and medical education is expected.

• Candidates should be adept at supervising residents, fellows, CRNAs, and SRNAs.

• Independently performing cases when necessary is also a requirement.

• Involvement in departmental academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, as well as participating in conferences and faculty meetings, is essential.

• Responsibilities will include instructing residents, fellows, and medical students.

• Some clinical duties in general anesthesia may be necessary based on departmental needs.

• The distribution of responsibilities may vary according to departmental requirements, individual interests, and success in securing external grant funding.

Compensation:

Salary will be determined based on experience and the assessment of academic rank at the time of hiring.
