Position Overview

Our organization is on the lookout for a dedicated and skilled Physician specializing in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) to join the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. This role involves delivering comprehensive consultative services throughout our healthcare system, including both outpatient and inpatient settings. The selected physician will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of rehabilitative care by conducting evaluations, formulating evidence-based treatment plans, coordinating interdisciplinary services, and ensuring seamless patient care across a variety of conditions.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care - Consultative Services

• Deliver both inpatient and outpatient care, including PM&R consultations at various healthcare facilities.

• Assess patients experiencing impairments due to spinal cord injuries, strokes, brain injuries, amputations, complex orthopedic and musculoskeletal issues, as well as other medically intricate diagnoses.

• Create personalized, interdisciplinary rehabilitation strategies utilizing evidence-based practices and clinical best practices.

• Advise on suitable therapies, durable medical equipment, bracing/orthotics, and levels of rehabilitation care (e.g., acute inpatient rehab, skilled nursing facilities, home therapies).

• Ensure timely documentation, follow-up evaluations, and clear recommendations for referring services.

• Engage in multidisciplinary rounds, discharge planning, and collaborate with case management and therapy teams.

• Provide specialized PM&R expertise to support clinical programs in areas such as neurorehabilitation, spinal cord injury, cancer rehabilitation, medically complex diagnoses, and musculoskeletal medicine.

Academic and Teaching Duties

• Engage in the education and mentorship of residents, fellows, and medical students from our institution.

• Participate in case discussions, clinical education, quality improvement initiatives, and other academic activities within the department.

Administrative & Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain precise and timely documentation in line with organizational policies.

• Ensure adherence to all regulatory standards, including those set by the Joint Commission, CMS, and institutional guidelines.

• Participate in departmental meetings, clinical quality initiatives, and workflow enhancements related to consultative services.

• Exhibit professionalism, teamwork, and effective communication with referring providers and interdisciplinary colleagues.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical institution.

• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

• Board-certified or board-eligible in PM&R.

• Eligibility for medical licensure in Florida.

• Additional fellowship training (e.g., in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine, Brain Injury Medicine, or Cancer Rehabilitation) is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Strong clinical evaluation skills and experience in managing complex rehabilitation needs.

• A commitment to academic medicine, patient-centered care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

• The primary practice location will be at Jackson Memorial Hospital , with additional responsibilities at University of Miami Hospital and affiliated outpatient settings.
