Control Room Operator

About the role The Control Room Operator leads and directs employees who, under the direction of the shift Supervisor, oversee and direct the operation of the facility. This position is responsible for monitoring the status of all plant systems on a continuous basis, responding to alarms by taking appropriate corrective actions, executing plant shut-down and start-up procedures, and ensuring that the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner. Position Responsibilities Demonstrate how actions support Reworld Values and Behaviors, including a safe and inclusive workplace, delivery of results through trust, and building breakthrough capabilities. Train other Operators on the operating principles of the power facility’s systems, components and steam cycles. Maintain required logs and calculations; observe these logs for indications of faulty operation; notify supervisor of abnormal system conditions. Provide guidance to Crane, Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain a safe and efficient operation. Effectively monitor Reworld operation systems and possess a strong working knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations. Read blueprints, P&ID’s, and schematic specifications. Manage critical events and prioritize tasks during emergencies, providing clear directions for operational, safety, and environmental tasks. Respond to operational alarms, taking immediate corrective action. Be required to be in the field during outages. Demonstrate solid understanding of operational best practices, including problem solving and decision making that supports Reworld’s safety and operational goals. Position Requirements & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of the ASME QRO Provisional Licensing exam within the first year of holding the position. Strong leadership and motivational skills; ability to stay alert while sitting for long periods of time. Physical Demands of the Role Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb. Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces. Qualified to wear a full‑face respirator. Consistently work in various weather conditions.
