Role Description The Deputy Sheriff role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Denver Metropolitan Area. The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for maintaining safety and security within detention facilities, overseeing the custody, transport, and supervision of individuals in care, and enforcing laws, rules, and regulations. Daily duties include conducting security checks, responding to incidents and emergencies, writing detailed reports, and supporting court-related processes such as inmate movement and hearings. The role involves interacting with people from varied backgrounds, de-escalating conflicts, and collaborating with colleagues and other agencies to uphold public safety and departmental standards. Deputies are expected to follow established policies and procedures, participate in ongoing training, and demonstrate sound judgment in stressful situations. Qualifications Demonstrated knowledge of law enforcement practices, including Law Enforcement and Police skills. Understanding of Criminal Justice principles and relevant legal processes. Experience or training in Public Safety, including emergency response and safety protocols. Ability to support or participate in Criminal Investigations within a custodial or institutional setting. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and de-escalation skills. Ability to remain calm, professional, and objective under pressure and in sensitive situations. High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant college coursework or degree in Criminal Justice or related field is beneficial. Ability to meet physical fitness standards, pass background checks, and complete required academy and field training.
