Job Description

Job Summary:

Surgical Tech (Tech) supports surgical teams by preparing operating rooms and ensuring sterile instruments and supplies are ready for procedures. The role assists during operations by maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and supporting efficient, safe case flow.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field before and throughout surgical procedures.
• Sterilize, organize, and distribute surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Assist surgeons and surgical teams by anticipating instrument needs and passing supplies using sterile technique.
• Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps in accordance with safety protocols.
• Document required procedure-related information and communicate any supply or equipment issues promptly.
• Support infection prevention practices by adhering to established aseptic workflows.

Qualifications:

• Hold a Surgical Technologist certification (CST) or equivalent credential.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile processing basics, and procedure room workflow.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection control standards in high-pressure environments.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthetia staff, and nursing team members.
• Complete required continuing education and maintain current credential status.
• Demonstrate attention to detail, safety awareness, and reliable clinical professionalism.
