Cardiothoracic Surgery Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiothoracic Surgery Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment, managing perioperative nursing responsibilities, and ensuring a high standard of practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer nursing care and support for patients undergoing cardiothoracic procedures.
• Assist in surgical operations and maintain a sterile environment.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform necessary procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Participate in educational training and competency assessments.
• Manage patient assessments, care planning, and documentation in the electronic medical record system (Cerner/Surginet).
• Be available for mandatory call shifts, including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cardiothoracic Surgery or similar nursing role.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS.
• CNOR certification preferred but not required.
• Strong understanding of maintaining sterile fields and aseptic technique.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Schedule

The position involves four 10-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The candidate must also be prepared to participate in on-call rotations, with the expectation of some weekend and holiday coverage.

Unit Information

The Cardiovascular Operating Room is equipped with 6 operating rooms plus 1 hybrid OR, managing approximately 7 cases per day (up to a maximum of 15). The team is composed of skilled nurses and surgical technologists who work closely together to deliver safe and effective patient care.
