Must-Have: Excellent communication skills. Ability to function independently and under pressure. Detail-oriented and capable of multitasking. Competent in all aspects of Diagnostic Radiology. Understanding of anatomy and pathology.

Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for the procedure. Works with students during their clinical rotation. Patient Care: Obtains complete clinical history and assesses for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media. Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification. Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking of the crash cart if applicable. Assists other technologists in all modalities if needed. Observes patient condition and evaluates situations for physician intervention when necessary. Verifies two unique patient identifiers and correct clinical order prior to performing a procedure. Ensures patient's privacy and comfort is accommodated. Demonstrates competence in determining appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques based on patient age. Organizes schedule and priorities to accomplish required activities within designated time frames. Uses critical thinking skills and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders. Understands pre-procedural verification and Time Out process when appropriate. Demonstrates and understands pre-and post-procedural care. Preps the patient for the procedure and maintains competency with venipuncture if applicable. Equipment: Demonstrates ability to adjust technique to maintain image quality while ensuring the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation. Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to a supervisor or service provider. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment according to infection control policy. Operates all aspects of the system and radiographic equipment safely and competently. Education and Communication: Patiently and clearly explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients prior to starting the procedure. Ensures that patients' questions and concerns are satisfactorily addressed. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures. Required documentation is concise, legible, and includes precise terminology. Reads emails daily and follows through with assignments. Completes mandatory education without prompting. Quality Control: Consistently produces high-quality images with proper collimation, shielding, technique selection, and positioning. Ensures equipment is operational prior to use by checking for proper calibration. Sends all studies to PACS and ensures exams are complete and accurately labeled. Checks for prior exams and ensures they are properly loaded prior to sending to PACS. Operations: Restocks linens and supplies and maintains the imaging service in clean condition. Transports and positions patients and assists them on and off the procedure table. Performs patient charging activities on the service day. Applies shielding and supportive devices effectively. Lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request. Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel when warranted. Keeps supervisor informed about responsibilities and potential problems. Maintains an individual productivity rate consistent with co-workers. Maintains regulatory agency standards. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
