We are hiring a Compliance Officers for one of our clients in Marathon, FL .
Job Description:
Position Requirements: This contractor position is assigned to the FWC Division of Law Enforcement, requires the successful completion of a level II background investigation. Applicant should have the ability to understand and comprehend state statutes, specific programmatic guidance documents, and requirements of procedural accuracy. This is a highly responsible non-sworn position overseeing the daily operations and investigations within the Division of Law Enforcement. Applicant should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat DC, database research, and communication skills both verbal and in writing. This position must be able to provide self-management and work within groups.

- Position Description: This position is responsible for the daily management of derelict vessel management activity within its specific region. This position answers directly to the Derelict Vessel Program Administrator in Tallahassee who oversees the FWC Derelict vessel program. This position is responsible for the following:
- Reviews the daily activity of FWC officers in the field pertaining to their investigation of derelict vessel (DV) cases, at-risk/public nuisance cases and other activities as assigned.
- Reviews cases within the DV Database to ensure complete and accurate records are in place and that deadlines for performance are being met by officers.
- Works with officers to advise them of information needed to complete records in accordance with program requirements, agency policy, and standard operating procedures.
- Conducts training classes within their region to assist FWC and partner agencies on program requirements, changes to the Derelict Vessel laws and procedures and answers specific questions as needed.
- Produces specific county reports on DV case status on a weekly basis and updates the area Captain within that county with report and actions needed. Reports are also sent to Tallahassee Headquarters for review.
- Works with area Captains on at-risk vessel details for the enforcement of at-risk violations within the region. Provides Tallahassee with monthly at-risk violation report.
- Works with local governmental entities to ensure receipt of DV Removal Authorization Letters and assists those entities with completing and submitting Grant Applications for DV removal funding.
- Position is a liaison between FWC and the public, staff, and officers, answering DV related questions and addressing programmatic concerns and specific enforcement requests.
- Maintains a close relationship with the area Captains and Lieutenants to provide communication as needed daily.
- Attends a weekly TEAMS meeting with the DV Program Administrator to receive updates, specific areas of concern and have questions or concerns answered at the programmatic leadership level.
- Addresses specific questions asked by officers, with the DV Program Administrator or the FWC Boating and Waterways legal counsel.
- Provides training and answers questions of officers pertaining to the input of data into the DV Derelict Vessel Database and ensures that the DV Database records are kept current and accurate. Works with specific officers if updates or corrections are needed to specific case input.
- Works with the public to explain the Vessel Turn in Program and the procedure needed to have their vessels surrendered to the program.
- Provides occasional site visits to DV removal operations to ensure contractors are performing in accordance with program requirements. Advises Program Administrator if violations occur and Program action is needed to resolve deficiencies.
- Reviews cases within the assigned respective region of at-risk to public nuisance conversion vessels, advising officers on specific procedural requirements needed to have the vessels authorized for removal.
- Works with local governmental entities not involved with derelict vessel removal, to educate them on the program and services available. Assists them in becoming active in the removal efforts locally and offers support and guidance throughout the application and project phases.
- Coordinates with the Program Administrator on needs within their region to enhance productivity of the overall DV Program and opportunities for improvement.
- Works with the other Regional Derelict Vessel Specialists on collaborative projects and daily operations.
- The selected candidate will also be required to travel to Tallahassee for 1 week of training after being hired. The person hired for this position will be required to use their POV for travel to Tallahassee for training and for local travel in the Marathon area for work related duties. They will be reimbursed for travel expenses and for miles driven for approved work purposes.
- Works with Monroe, Miami-Dade, and Broward County as well as municipal staff to collaborate the removal of derelict vessels as law enforcement authorizes their legal authorization for removal.
Skills Required:
- Time management skills and ability to multi task throughout daily workflow.
- Must be fluent in speaking in and writing in English.
- Must have valid State of Florida driver's license in good standing and good working vehicle that will be utilized for local travel for work purposes. (Mileage will be reimbursed as needed and approved).
- Microsoft Office Suite (Strong Excel) and Proprietary Law Enforcement Software, Zoom meetings.
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Earth.
- Be able to utilize clear speaking and written communication skills to work with law enforcement officers, FWC staff and members of the public.
- Be prompt in arrival to work and be able to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines for task completion.

- Candidate needs to have the ability to communicate with both internal staff, law enforcement officers and the public in a positive and professional manner.
- Possess the ability for critical thinking as this position requires working with confidential and sensitive law enforcement information.
- Confidentiality in the performance of duties assigned is of the utmost importance.
- Be able to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Have a positive attitude and represent the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in a positive and professional manner as a representative of the Division of Law Enforcement within the Boating and Waterways Section.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree or higher
- 3 Years of professional related experience
- Ability to achieve a successful fingerprint and level II background investigation
- Valid State of Florida driver's license.
Work hours:
- This position normally operates Monday Friday from 8am 5pm however may occasionally require nontraditional hours. This position may require occasional travel up to 25%.
