Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant clinical setting License: Valid Nursing License Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Experience in telemetry and medical/surgical nursing - Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias - Skills in telemetry monitoring both on unit and remotely - Experience with rapid response teams - Knowledge of colostomy care and feeding tube management - Competence in blood product administration - Proficiency in peripheral line care and phlebotomy - Familiarity with PICC line management, heparin, and insulin administration - Understanding of isolation precautions - Ability to manage chest tubes and non-invasive airway devices - Experience with high flow nasal cannula and interpretation of arterial blood gases Description: This position is an inpatient holding support role located within the emergency department. Patients are located within the emergency department awaiting inpatient beds. They may present with any medical or surgical adult diagnosis. Travelers may encounter patients requiring progressive care unit level support. Nurses will take on medical and surgical telemetry cases and may float to other patient care areas as needed. The patient-to-nurse ratio is expected to be 1:6 for medical/surgical/telemetry or 1:4 for progressive care unit level patients. Every other weekend work is required. Contract staff may be expected to work during catastrophic events or disasters. The work environment is fast-paced with very sick patients. Standard medical equipment, cardiac monitors, and IV pumps will be utilized. Familiarity with electronic medical record systems is expected. All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting this position.
