Controller

A great UHY client is seeking a Controller to lead accounting and operational finance activities within a growing luxury custom home building organization. This role will oversee construction accounting, job costing, month-end close, and operational support functions while serving as a key business partner to ownership and leadership. The ideal candidate will bring strong construction accounting experience along with a proactive, hands‑on approach to process improvement and operational oversight. The Controller role is a fully onsite position based in Bloomfield Hills, MI. This is a permanent, direct‑hire opportunity offering strong compensation, bonus potential, and the opportunity to play a highly visible role within a growing organization. Oversee day‑to‑day accounting and financial operations Manage construction accounting, including job costing and monthly billing activities Lead month‑end close and financial reporting processes Coordinate year‑end activities and support external tax/accounting partners Supervise accounting and administrative staff Support operational initiatives, including insurance tracking, vendor compliance, and process improvements Partner with leadership on project management, operational oversight, and business initiatives Develop and improve internal processes, tracking tools, and workflows Assist with HR, vendor management, and office operations as needed Construction accounting experience required Home building or real estate industry experience preferred Prior management or supervisory experience required Sage ERP or similar system experience preferred Strong understanding of job costing and cost‑plus billing environments Ability to work hands‑on in both accounting and operational functions Strong organizational, project management, and follow‑up skills Proactive, resourceful mindset with strong problem‑solving abilities Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment #J-18808-Ljbffr UHY-US
