Work Environment

This remote role allows for flexibility and promotes a healthy work-life balance, with a standard work schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. You will utilize various digital tools and telehealth platforms for conducting appointments and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring that client care remains seamless and integrated.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments for elderly residents, identifying specific emotional and psychological needs.
• Provide individual and group therapy sessions targeting the emotional challenges associated with aging, such as depression, anxiety, and grief.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, and social workers—to develop and implement individualized care plans that enhance the overall wellbeing of geriatric clients.
• Educate caregivers and family members on effective strategies to improve the mental health and quality of life for seniors, including coping mechanisms and communication techniques.
• Facilitate grief and loss counseling sessions, addressing the psychological impacts of bereavement and end-of-life issues for both residents and their families.
• Implement cognitive stimulation programs aimed at maintaining mental acuity and cognitive functionality in elderly clients, promoting engagement and social interaction.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role focuses primarily on elderly individuals dealing with various mental health challenges, including adjustment disorders, chronic illness, and significant life changes such as retirement or the death of loved ones. Your expertise will enable you to provide essential emotional support and therapeutic interventions that foster resilience and enhance the quality of life for older adults.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution.
• A valid License as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Washington.
• A minimum of four years of recent experience providing mental health services, particularly within geriatric counseling settings.
• Specialized training or credentials in geriatric mental health, aging, or similar areas relevant to the elderly population.
• Experience utilizing evidence-based practices and interventions tailored for elderly clients.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, essential for building rapport with clients and their families.
• Empathetic understanding of cultural diversity and sensitivity towards the unique backgrounds of older adults.

Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
