Step into a rewarding role supporting student wellbeing as a Mental Health Specialist for the 2025-2026 school year. At a welcoming high school setting in Lapeer County, you'll provide essential counseling services primarily for general education students, fostering positive social-emotional development both one-on-one and in groups. You'll also collaborate with school staff to help create a nurturing atmosphere—whether that's through professional learning initiatives or implementing positive behavior programs.

This contract opportunity calls for a passionate professional adept at working with diverse student needs, and who demonstrates strong documentation skills (SOAP notes, electronic records), as well as proficiency in Google tools. You’ll have the satisfaction of helping young people thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Preferred Background:

• Master’s degree (required) in social work, psychology, counseling, or related field
• LARA licensure, or qualifications listed for Michigan school mental health professionals (school counselor license, psychologist, social worker, marriage and family therapist, or professional counselor—with appropriate supervision if Limited Licensed)
• Comfortable using SOAP notes and electronic documentation platforms
• Proficiency with Google Suite
• Experience working with school-aged youth in an educational or mental health setting preferred

• Provide direct social-emotional counseling to general education students, individually and in groups
• Support classrooms and building-level initiatives focused on positive behavior and wellbeing
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation of services
