Make a meaningful difference in the lives of elementary students as a contract school social worker during a maternity leave coverage period. This assignment, based near Lake Orion, offers the chance to collaborate with staff across two elementary campuses and provide vital support services throughout November and December of the 2026-2027 school year.
Your expertise will play a key role in supporting students’ social and emotional well-being, ensuring a safe and nurturing school experience. You’ll enjoy a consistent weekday schedule of 37.5 hours per week, allowing you to balance professional growth with personal commitments.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active, valid licensure as a school social worker
- Demonstrated experience working within elementary school settings
- Strong knowledge of social work practices in educational environments
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and collaboration skills
- Capacity to work independently while integrating as part of a wider school team
- Experience with counseling, crisis intervention, and individualized student support plans
Role Responsibilities:
- Manage a dedicated elementary school caseload across two campuses
- Conduct assessments and provide direct services addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to design effective intervention strategies
- Support students through individual and small-group counseling sessions
- Develop and implement preventative programs to foster a positive school climate
- Contribute insights to multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings
