Elevate the educational experience for students by making a direct impact as a Mental Health Specialist at the high school level. This contract role focuses primarily on counseling general education students, providing individual and group social-emotional support, and collaborating schoolwide to implement positive behavior programs and contribute to professional learning efforts. The ideal candidate is passionate about student wellbeing and brings strong expertise in mental health counseling within a school setting.

Key Qualifications:

• Master’s degree required—bachelor’s degrees will not be considered
• LARA license mandatory; please reference state licensing requirements for details
• Eligible credentials include:
  • Licensed master’s level psychologist, social worker, marriage and family therapist, or professional counselor (including limited licensed under supervision)
  • MDE-credentialed master’s level school psychologist
  • School Counselor License (SCL), Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor (NT) endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credential (PSCC/TSCL; additional requirements apply)
• Demonstrated experience providing counseling to general education students in a school environment
• Proficient in SOAP notes, electronic documentation, and Google Suite applications
• Effective communicator who can collaborate with educators, students, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individual and group counseling for high school students, focusing on social-emotional development and support
• Integrate and champion positive behavioral interventions and assist with the development of schoolwide programs
• Maintain timely, comprehensive electronic documentation in line with district protocols
• Provide professional learning opportunities and collaborate with staff to promote a supportive school climate
• Offer responsive mental health support as needed within the classroom or campus setting
