Join Our HR Team

Staiman Recycling Corporation is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team in Williamsport.

This is a great opportunity for someone early in their Human Resources career with approximately 1–2 years of HR, administrative support, or related experience who is ready to expand their skills and take on additional responsibility.

The HR Assistant supports approximately 120 employees across three locations — Williamsport, PA; Hanover, PA; and Elmira, NY — with three primary areas of focus:

• PAYROLL
• RECRUITING
• TIME-OFF ADMINISTRATION

What You’ll Do:

• Learn to process weekly payroll each Monday. Comprehensive training and support will be provided to ensure you are comfortable and confident with the payroll process. Once trained, you will be responsible for processing weekly payroll, including reviewing time records, overtime, paid time off, employee changes, and resolving routine payroll discrepancies.
• Process and maintain employee time-off requests and records.
• Assist with recruiting, including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
• Coordinate pre-employment and onboarding activities, including background checks, drug screenings, references, offer letters, and new-hire paperwork.
• Enter and maintain accurate employee information in the HRIS/payroll system.
• Assist employees with routine payroll, benefits, and HR questions.
• Maintain confidential personnel files and HR records.
• Assist the HR Manager with employee documentation, reports, projects, and other day-to-day HR activities.
• Perform other HR and administrative duties as assigned.

What We’re Looking For:

• Approximately 1–2 years of HR Assistant, administrative support, or related experience preferred.
• Experience with payroll, recruiting, timekeeping, or employee records is a plus.
• Paylocity HRIS experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Professionalism, good judgment, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive off-site for company-related errands as needed.
• Excellent attendance and punctuality.

Schedule & Expectations:

• This is a full-time, on-site position working Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch. The HR office must have coverage until 4:00 PM.
• Monday attendance is particularly important because weekly payroll is processed each Monday.
• While 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM is the regular schedule, work hours may occasionally need to be adjusted to support business and employee needs. The successful candidate must be willing to maintain reasonable flexibility in their work schedule when needed.

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, a drug screening, and verification of three professional references.
