Office Assistant 2 Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries—Southeast Administrative Section—Douglas, Alaska. Eligibility This position is open to Alaska residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify. Responsibilities Provide administrative support for the Southeast region of the Division of Commercial Fisheries. Process bi‑weekly payroll, Personnel Action Requests, payroll reconciliation, and data entry. Maintain staff information using computer software, including word processing and spreadsheets; learn state and department proprietary systems. Interpret and apply policies, procedures, bargaining contracts, rules, and instructions. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with staff and other stakeholders. Organize projects, manage email, and track tasks. Demonstrate thoroughness, high effort, and commitment. Adapt work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience with clerical tasks such as greeting clients, answering phones, typing, filing, sorting mail, entering data, receiving payments, making change, and maintaining logs. Education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (1 month of experience per 3 semester hours). Regular driver’s license and age 18+ if the position requires operating motor vehicles. Typing skill may be required for some positions. Ability to use computer programs and state proprietary systems. Benefits General office hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (flexible around core business hours). 37.5-hour work week, 13 paid holidays, and personal leave accrual.
