Clerk, Haverhill Public Library (Haverhill) Excellent opportunity for scaling back to part time orsomeone looking for an introduction to library services.

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs all duties related to the circulation of librarymaterials including checkouts, checkins, renewals, patronregistration, reserves, and collection of fines and fees atboth the Circulation and Youth Services desks. Will havesome regular Youth Services shifts, predominately nights andweekends. Represents the library in a pleasant and helpfulmanner in all aspects of work.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the supervision of the Head of Circulation,receives direction from other Department Heads andAdmin

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None. May occasionally provide guidance to volunteers. Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential functions of this job, theemployee is regularly required to bend and stoop; stand andwalk on a frequent basis; lift and/or move objects weighingup to 50 pounds; must be able to effectively communicatewith the public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors Degree (some flexibility) Previous library experience, 1-3 years preferred but notrequired

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND DESIRABLE ABILITIES:

1. Ability to meet people easily and get along well withothers.
2. Ability to express oneself clearly, concisely andpleasantly in the English language both orally, in personand over the phone, and in writing.
3. Ability to handle minute detail and repetitivetasks.
4. Accurate typing and word processing skills.
5. Ability to learn new skills quickly.
6. Ability to handle situations with tact, courtesy,initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment andpunctuality.
7. Ability to work independently and with minimalsupervision.
8. Ability to work quickly and efficiently, meetdeadlines, and stay organized.

SCHEDULE

Part Time, 12-15 hours per week, will include eveningsand weekends; opportunity to work Sunday shifts for overtimetime and a half pay. Full/Part Time Part Time Education
