Laboratory Supervisor

Location: Pembroke Pines, Florida

Summary

Manages the daily operations of the department or assigned area/function to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives. Five days per week, Monday-Friday. Weekends will be required as needed. Looking for someone with Chemistry experience. General/Core lab experience highly preferred. Will be overseeing three Chemistry labs- Red Road and Douglas Road FSED and MHP main lab.

Responsibilities

Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures. Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols. Assess competency of team members. Assesses quality of services delivered and facilitates staff development programs. Ensures staff compliance with regulatory and departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols. Assists with the development of training material and the competency assessment tools used by the department and ensure that all associated documentation is kept up to date. Determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments and levels. Provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. Performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner. Establishes policies, procedures, and protocols for testing performed in a defined laboratory section(s). Defines analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity, and reference ranges for test methods. Oversees quality control testing and instrument maintenance. Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures. Oversees inventory management and provides input into the budget process. Perform method validations and ongoing method assessments.
