HVAC Controls - Field Service Technician (Union)

Job Description Honeywell International is seeking an experienced and motivated HVAC Controls – Field Service Technician to join our Building Automation team in New York City (Queens, The Bronx and Brooklyn, NY). This is a Union position (Local 3) supporting the design, installation, commissioning, and servicing of advanced Building Automation Systems (BAS) utilizing Honeywell and Tridium Niagara platforms. In this role you will work on high‑profile projects delivering reliable, high‑performance HVAC controls solutions to commercial buildings such as high‑rise office buildings, hospitals, and schools. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on technician with strong technical expertise, a collaborative approach, and a commitment to customer satisfaction. You will report to the Senior Field Service Supervisor in Lake Success, NY. This is a 35 hour work week with a Monday-Friday schedule, working 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. OT is available after 7 hours on any weekday. You will be provided with a company vehicle, all necessary tools, a gas card, laptop, phone, and a P card for parking and material purchases. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, program, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (BAS) Develop system databases, map points, and configure front‑end workstations and graphics Interpret and implement sequences of operation Commission and start up HVAC control systems Work with industry protocols including BACnet, LonWorks, and Modbus (HTML/Java experience a plus) Review and interpret project plans, specifications, and control drawings Collaborate with internal project teams, subcontractors, and customers to ensure successful project execution Qualifications 3+ years of experience in building automation or controls industry 1+ year experience working with DDC controls, BAS architecture, and system networking If not already a member, must be willing to join Union Local 3 Valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Honeywell Desired Skills Niagara Tridium (N4/Optimizer) experience Familiarity with platforms such as Honeywell, Andover, JCI, and Tridium Controls experience in large commercial or institutional facilities Experience working with commercial HVAC systems Background in HVAC, electrical, or electronics Customer‑focused, self‑motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team Proven track record of delivering high levels of customer satisfaction Strong troubleshooting, communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills Union Benefits – The Honeywell Advantage Competitive union compensation based on experience Local 3 Union membership Medical, dental, and vision coverage Union Annuity Plan 401(k) plan Paid vacation, holidays, and sick time Company‑provided vehicle, cell phone, laptop, and tools The hourly rate range for this position is $40.16 to $53.99.
