Newly opened Uchiko in Miami Beach, is hiring Sushi Chefs! In this role, you will serve as a vital member of our team to enrich the culinary and service experience for our guests. We offer gainful employment.

Sushi Chefs can expect the following in estimated compensation:

• Sushi Chefs are paid an hourly rate and receive tips.
• The average hourly rate for Sushi Chefs (base pay + tipout) is estimated at $25 per hour.

Who We Are:

Uchiko, child of Uchi, is the offspring of James Beard Award-winning Chef Tyson Cole's original non-traditional Japanese concept. While the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Uchiko takes a fiery turn bringing smoke and char alongside the fresh and clean flavors that define Uchi.

What you'll do in this role:

• Interact with guests at the sushi bar; take orders, explain dishes, and cultivate an amazing experience for yourself and the guest
• Learn our various sushi stations and progress as your knowledge and skills grow
• Collaborate with our teams to create dishes that will be showcased on our specials page and core menu!
• Previous experience in a high volume, guest facing Sushi line is preferred and prioritized.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be able to effectively communicate with guests and other employees
• Detect and identify safety issues, and comply with safety guidelines and standards
• Lift and carry trays, dishes, equipment and goods up to 50 lbs, stock inventory and perform restocking duties
• Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Bend, stoop and reach to access various areas and items
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
• Ability to work in a variety of temperatures, both hot and cold
• Lift, push, or pull objects such as tables and chairs to reconfigure seating arrangements.
• Ability to use kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, such as ovens, grills, and knives.
• Keep a near and organized workspace, including proper storage of supplies and cleaning of surfaces
• Move quickly and efficiently to respond to customer needs
• Ability to work in close proximity to coworkers in a crowded kitchen or serving area
• Tolerate exposure to potential allergens and food odors
• Maintain a professional and hygienic appearance, including proper uniform and personal grooming
• Understand directives and communicate effectively with Leadership and coworkers
