Summary IT Specialist positions are being filled through the Office of Personnel Management's delegated Direct Hire Authority, open to all U.S. citizens. Selections will be processed as new appointments to the Civil Service. Under Direct Hire Authority, Veterans Preference and the "Rule of Many" do not apply. Location & Salary Two locations: Woodlawn, MD and Durham, NC. Telework eligible; employee must be onsite 75% of duty time. Salary ranges: $121,785 - $158,322 per year (GS 13). Pay scale: GS 13. Job Details Grade: GS 13 Full-Time Permanent appointment Travel Required: No Promotion potential: None Security clearance: Not required Duties Provide expertise in the development or selection, evaluation, modification, installation, implementation and maintenance of infrastructure automation software, hardware, and infrastructure management software. Responsible for integration and testing of numerous network infrastructure management systems and tools to provide a unified infrastructure service. Review and analyze network requirements for new systems, ensuring sufficient functionality and computing capacity. Provide expert-level guidance on network problem determination and coordinate resolution of major systems software and hardware problems, employing advanced problem analysis and diagnostic technologies. Responsibilities Install, configure, administer, and modify Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.x, 8.x and 9.x software and x86 hardware. Administer WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Deployment Manager, WebSphere MQ software and Kubernetes namespace administration. Assist in strategic planning, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the agency’s computer systems and enterprise IT infrastructure. Support continuous operations management for essential applications, maintain and monitor all computer storage, network assets, and technology services. Qualifications Applicant must demonstrate competencies in: Attention to Detail – thorough and conscientious. Customer Service – assist clients and customers, providing quality products and services. Oral Communication – convey information clearly to individuals or groups. Problem Solving – identify problems, use sound judgment to generate alternatives and make recommendations. Additional requirement: specialized experience at or equivalent to GS‑12 level in installation, configuration, administration, and modification of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Cisco hardware, WebSphere, and Kubernetes administration. This experience must be documented in the resume. Conditions of Employment U.S. citizenship required. Selectively Registered to U.S. Selective Service, if applicable.
