Nuclear Engineer for AI Model Training

Nuclear engineers apply their design, operations, and safety expertise to evaluate AI model outputs, craft domain-specific prompts, and provide clear, structured feedback that improves model behavior on nuclear engineering tasks. This is an hourly, temporary contract role performed remotely and asynchronously. You will gain experience in prompt design and model evaluation while helping models better reflect real-world nuclear engineering practice.

• Assess AI-generated content for technical accuracy, relevance, and adherence to industry safety and regulatory expectations.
• Create and refine prompts that reflect realistic nuclear engineering scenarios, then evaluate model responses.
• Provide detailed, structured feedback that helps models learn workplace tasks, technical language, and decision criteria.
• Examples of relevant professional responsibilities that provide the context you will use to evaluate and train models include:
• Design or develop nuclear equipment, such as reactor cores, radiation shielding, instrumentation, or control systems.
• Monitor facility operations to identify safety or regulatory violations and recommend or initiate corrective actions, including ordering plant shutdowns in emergencies.
• Investigate accidents to collect data used to design preventive measures.
• Direct operating or maintenance activities in nuclear power plants to ensure efficiency and compliance with safety standards.
• Design or oversee construction or operation of nuclear reactors, power plants, or fuel reprocessing systems.
• Lead environmental compliance and prepare environmental impact statements, reports, or presentations for regulatory agencies.
• Write operational instructions for reactor operation, fuel handling, waste handling, and disposal.
• Prepare technical reports synthesizing test results and recommendations.
• Develop remediation or restoration plans for environments affected by radiation, such as waste disposal sites.
• Design and conduct tests of nuclear fuel behavior, fuel cycles, and equipment performance to optimize plant operations.
• Design fuel cycle models or processes to reduce radioactive waste generation.
• Consult with scientists on experimental parameters and analytical model suitability.
• Recommend preventive measures for handling nuclear technology based on monitoring and test evaluations.
• Review construction project proposals with vendors, contractors, or facility review boards.
• Perform experiments to evaluate nuclear material usage, fuel reclamation, or waste disposal methods.
• Conduct environmental studies related to power generation, waste disposal, or weapon-related impacts.
• Design and direct nuclear research projects to develop, test, modify, or discover applications for theoretical models.
• Stay current with developments in the nuclear field through technical literature and research.

• At least 4 years of professional experience in one or more of the nuclear engineering responsibilities listed above.
• Ability to work asynchronously and independently with AI research teams.

• Remote and asynchronous, work independently from any location.
• Flexible hours with no minimum commitment, though most contributors average 5 to 20 hours per week.
• Hourly, temporary contract engagement, paid on an hourly basis.
• Placement into specific projects depends on project availability. Project opportunities run year-round and open periodically across different areas of expertise.

Up to $80/hr (depending on the project)

• F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Consult your Designated School Official to confirm eligibility.
• If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course, this project may not meet that requirement.
• STEM OPT is not supported for these projects.
