Make a meaningful impact supporting a 1st grade student who is deafblind as a dedicated 1:1 Intervener for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, contract opportunity is situated in the Del Mar/San Diego area and is ideal for professionals with expertise in paraprofessional support, sign language interpretation, and pediatric educational services.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
- Valid Intervener Certificate from an accredited university is a must
- Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially those with sensory impairments
- Background supporting pediatric and 1:1 educational needs preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized support to a 1st grade student who is deafblind
- Facilitate communication and environmental access using established strategies and sign language
- Work alongside classroom teachers, special education staff, and related service providers to create an optimal learning environment
- Adapt classroom activities and materials to meet the unique needs of the student
- Foster independence and social interaction while maintaining safety and awareness
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing professional development as needed
