With an annual budget of $68 million, SBCS continues to be a beacon of assistance in the community.SBCS offers competitive pay and additional benefits for full-time employees, including generous vacation time, holidays, health, vision, dental, flexible spending accounts, an employee assistance program, discount programs, public service forgiveness loan, and an excellent retirement plan with matching contributions.Under the supervision of the Family Stabilization Program Coordinator & Program Director, the Family Development Associate (FDA) is responsible for performing a variety of activities to implement the Family Stabilization Program which connects families and individuals experiencing homelessness with resources and services to help meet their basic needs and establish housing plans. Services include supporting clients in locating permanent housing, connecting clients to rental assistance programs, and one-on-one case management to reduce and end homelessness in our community. Family Stabilization is committed to providing services that are trauma-informed, strength-based, person centered and empowerment oriented. Services will be in keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission and style and provided within a team framework.Duties:Provide case management, crisis intervention and safety planning support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including assistance with accessing services, increasing income, and finding employmentConduct strengths-based assessments and develop service plans with clients.Ability to handle case sensitive information.Help clients find stable housing, including interim support such as emergency shelterDevelop and implement case plans that focus on housing, income and healthBuild relationships with clients, provide guidance and support and help them resolve basic needs and homeless experienceWork with other agencies and programs to refer clients for services and coordinate client careAct as a client advocate to negotiate with individuals, programs, and landlords on behalf of clientsOn occasion engage with clients outside of the office, conduct meetings with clients in parks, libraries, clinics, etc. (SBCS provides mileage reimbursement).Complete programmatic, data entry, quality assurance, and billing reports on a variety of software programs and required databases as requested and/or required.Conduct new client orientationPossess and maintain relationships and strong communication with community partners and landlordsDevelop and maintain outreach and linkages to appropriate services in the community.Collect data, input case notes, and maintain case records and client files in required databases as required by SBCS and its funding sources.Organize and update referral systemsAttend and participate in staff & team meetings.Attend all agency required meetings and trainingsOther duties as assignedRequirements:High school diploma or GED equivalent, required. Bachelor's degree in social science, psychology or related field preferred.Work or lived experience (either self or family) with homelessness or housing instability, highly desirableBilingual English/Spanish preferred.Maintain all case files following confidentiality guidelines.Intermediate or advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving abilities, training skills, creativity, and public speaking.Ability to provide quality trauma-informed services in a fast-paced environment, specializing in crisis intervention and de-escalation, motivational interviewing, and Seeking Safety.Ability to (re) prioritize and multi-task is a must.Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.As part of their daily work responsibilities, employee may be required to drive an agency vehicle and transport clients therefore candidate should hold a valid driver's license, be insurable, bondable and have a clean driving record.Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.Conditions of Employment:Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), Probation Clearances, Child Abuse Central Index Check (CACI), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, physical exam, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, Immunizations (TDAP, MMR, Influenza) and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.Candidates/employees who have received a conditional offer of employment will be required to undergo testing for controlled substances, (including THC), in accordance with the County of San Diego's drug and alcohol policy and the federal Controlled Substances Act.Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy. (Approximately 10 – 15% of the time.)Physical demands:Mentally and emotionally: Ability to work under deadlines, various projects and dealing with clients in crisis and difficult situations.Must be able to remain in a stationary position during shift.Moves throughout the building.Moves, raises, or lowers (includes upward pulling) an object or equipment up to 50 lbs.Transports an object, from 20 to 50 lbs. across the facility, for various needs.Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force.Ability to exert force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking)Ascending or descending stairs and ladders when applicable.
