Payroll & Benefits Specialist

• Provide expert support across medical , dental, vision, pharmacy, FSA, EAP, wellness, life, disability, and time-off programs .
• Interface with third-party administrators for 401(k) and pension plans .
• Communicate company policies to employees, vendors, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Labor Relations , and external partners for inquiry resolution.
• Maintain systems for benefits changes (open enrollment, life events, transfers, terminations).
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and record retention policies.
• Conduct new hire orientation, open enrollment, and retirement health plan sessions .
• Audit and reconcile enrollment data for accuracy.
• Process COBRA notifications and HCFSA/DCFSA enrollments.
• Act as business analyst for benefit system projects, including test plans and documentation.

Key Skills & Knowledge (KSAs)

• Expert understanding of employee benefit programs (medical, dental, vision, life, disability).
• Strong knowledge of 401(k) and defined benefit pension plans.
• Working knowledge of federal/state health regulations: Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, PPACA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for sensitive employee matters.
• Ability to manage workloads, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Competence in HRIS applications and adapting to system updates.
