APEX Placement and Consulting has partnered with a healthcare organization seeking a Sous Chef in Pittsburgh, PA to support food preparation, meal service, and kitchen operations. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong culinary background who enjoys working with a team and providing quality meals for residents and patients.

What your schedule will look like:

• Scheduled hours may include days, evenings, some weekends, and some holidays.

• Flexibility to support kitchen operations and meal service needs.

What your day will look like:

• Coordinate food preparation and meal service to keep meals on schedule.

• Prepare, season, cook, and serve meals according to recipes, dietary requirements, and portion standards.

• Prepare nutritional snacks as directed.

• Collaborate with dining leadership on menus and special events.

• Monitor food temperatures throughout preparation and service.

• Assist with receiving, inspecting, and properly storing food and supplies.

• Identify food, supply, and equipment needs and communicate them to management.

• Provide direction to dietary staff when the Dietary Manager is absent.

• Maintain clean, organized work areas and follow food safety and sanitation procedures.

• Report equipment issues and unsafe conditions.

• Participate in team meetings and required training.

What we are looking for:

• A strong culinary background and demonstrated team leadership skills.

• ServSafe certification.

• At least one year of food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Knowledge of cooking in large quantities, food preparation, and portion control.

• Education or training in therapeutic diets preferred.

• Ability to follow recipes, diet orders, and work assignments accurately.

• A patient, respectful approach when working with staff, residents, and families.

• Ability to perform essential kitchen duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
