Pay From: $20.00 per hour

MUST:

• Experienced Referral Coordinator
• Must have 1 plus years of experience working within healthcare
• Must have strong experience handling patient referrals
• Must have a strong understanding of medical insurance
• Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite experience
• Must have a strong understanding of medical terminology

DUTIES:

• Referral Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
• Obtain required insurance authorizations and approvals for specialty care, diagnostic testing, and other medical services in accordance with payer guidelines
• Coordinate and manage all outgoing patient referrals, ensuring timely processing and scheduling
• Monitor referral status and utilize tracking systems and follow-up reminders to ensure referrals are completed promptly
• Track all outside referrals and obtain consultation notes, test results, and reports from external providers
• Maintain clear communication with patients, providers, and clinical staff throughout the referral and authorization process
• Secure and document all required insurance pre-authorizations and ensure accurate recordkeeping
• Utilize EMR to efficiently manage referrals, authorizations, documentation, and patient communications
• Schedule and coordinate laboratory, imaging, and specialty appointments as needed
• Facilitate the secure exchange of medical records with outside healthcare providers and facilities
• Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries regarding referrals, authorizations, and related services
• Verify insurance requirements for billing and claims processing, documenting all communications and follow-up activities
• Maintain accurate patient records, data entry, and filing in accordance with organizational standards
• Monitor and respond to voicemail messages related to referrals, authorizations, and patient care coordination
• Perform other administrative and clinical support duties as assigned
