Job DescriptionUW Medical Center-Northwest - Neuromodulation Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a Per Diem Re gistered Nurse .WORK SCHEDULE:Per diem schedule / varying hours per weekPer diem RNs can work both full day shifts (6:00am-2:30pm) and half day shifts (6:30am-12:00pm)Monday-Friday onlyPreference will be given to RNs who can regularly work at least 4 shifts per monthPer diem RNs may work extra hours when needed to cover staffing vacancies, time off requests, and sick callsPOSITION HIGHLIGHTSWork a flexible schedule in a position offering work-life balanceSupport an innovative, state-of-the-art program in a developing fieldGreat opportunity for critical care RNs looking to transition into a unique behavioral health procedural unitDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Garvey Institute Center for Neuromodulation provides outpatient, evidence-based Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) services for patients with major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, catatonia, and schizophrenia. Clinical staff regularly work with patients under anesthesia and provide procedural support before, during, and after the ECT and TMS procedures.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESProvide nursing care to ambulatory behavioral health patients receiving Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) treatment under general anesthesiaProvide nursing care to ambulatory behavioral health patients receiving Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), which is a non-invasive procedurePerform pre-procedure intake assessments, including assessments of the patient's physical and psychological statesConduct pre-procedure calls to outpatientsConduct care coordination ahead of inpatient ECT appointmentsMonitor and provide care for patients during all phases of procedural careHelp manage emergencies and complications while patients are sedatedProvide phase I and phase II anesthesia supportRecover patients post-treatment, prepare patients for discharge, and educate patients regarding home careConduct telephone triage, Epic in-basket management, care coordination, and referral reviewPromote efficient patient flow through accurate record keepingREQUIREMENTS2 years of recent critical care RN work experienceActive ACLS (required by start date)Active PALS (required by start date)Active BLS (required by state date)Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington StatePerioperative RN work experience preferred, but not requiredABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-NORTHWESTUW Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
