Production SupervisorPosition at Empire PackingReports to: Production ManagerJob Summary: Responsible for supervision of all aspects of assigned production line(s). Take direction from Operations on scheduling, line preparation and production execution. This individual will be a direct supervisor for assigned production employees. Oversee the operations to provide day-to-day control of assigned department activities according to prescribed scheduled, priorities, production flow, and processing specifications to ensure production efficiencies are met hourly, evaluate all department work performance and take corrective action.Essential Job Duties:Monitor and supervise all aspects of assigned production line(s)Responsible for production qualityEnsure all tools and supplies needed to get the job done are availableMake sure all equipment being taken apart is being done safely and properly and that equipment is stored properlyMake sure all production change-overs and performed properlyNotify maintenance when maintenance is requiredMake sure all re-work is returned to the proper lines in a timely mannerOversee the integrity of finished product (quality, weights, labeling etc…)Notify Plant Manager when issues ariseEnsure production efficiencyMake sure that they proper lot numbers for raw materials are being used consistentlyResponsible for production related communication flow and coordination between line workersSupervise line employees in setting up and executing daily activitiesAbility to train new employees on assigned dutiesManage attendance of employee and send available personnel to other departments as neededVerify that all personnel are in attendance on the Master ScheduleCommunicate problems about line production with QA Manager, Maintenance Manager and Plant ManagerTransfer hours as necessary on Master ScheduleDiscipline and reward employees when appropriateAssist in production schedulingTroubleshoot line issues and communicate equipment issues with Production Maintenance ManagerMonitor quality of finished product, quality of workmanship, case product labels, pallet quality, palletizing of product, wrapping of palletsVerify transfer of finished product from production floor to storageResponsible for sanitation of work areasAssures compliance with all company safety rulesFollow and enforce safety rules, housekeeping, and proper operation of equipmentFollow and monitor proper safety equipment usage and safety proactiveFollow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices and Procedures (GMP)Coordinate bathroom breaks and lunch periodsMonitor the cleanliness of designated areas of the plantMust know job requirements for all positions on assigned production line(s)Complete required daily paperworkQualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent certificationConsiderable knowledge of production processes and work requirementsAbility to speak, read, and write EnglishEffective communication and interpersonal skillsBilingual (Spanish) preferredAbility to use various databases and applications independentlyAbility to comprehend the implications of process, policies and regulations, against requirements.Ability to manage the general services functional areas: purchasing, transportation processing, inventory management, and contracts and accountable property.Ability to establish a new network of professional working relationships with customers, colleagues and service provides, while further developing existing networks.Ability to make decisions and solve complex problems effectively and independently and identify alternative solutionsAbility to effectively manage and lead other contactorsAbility to interact with people who have different values, cultures and backgrounds.Licenses/Training:Safety TrainingSafety Quality Food (SQF) TrainingGood Manufacturing Practices (GMP) TrainingHazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) TrainingStandard Operating Procedure (SOP) TrainingFood Defense TrainingPhysical Requirements:Activities: Very active position, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing.Hearing: Must be able to hear average or normal conversation and receive ordinary information. Depending on work assignment must be able to work in a noisy work environment.Repetitive Motion: Must be able to frequently and regularly use wrists, hands, and or fingers.Visual Abilities: Acute closed vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Physical Strength: Must be able to frequently lift light to heavy objects throughout the day. Must be able to exerts up to 10lbs of force occasionally.Working Conditions: Must be able to work for long hours in a no-kill food processing environment, where it is wet, damp, and cold.
