Tax Manager / Senior Manager

Senior Manager – Tax Position Summary: The Senior Manager is responsible for leading a profitable functional area of the practice – leading the team, building the business and ensuring the team delivers exceptional client service. The Senior Manager is responsible for managing tax engagements and related projects, working for assigned clients, including communication with clients, and supervising performance of tax staff and tax seniors. In fulfilling the firm’s mission, the Senior Manager is a liaison between Partners, clients and internal staff. The Senior Manager supports the firm’s goals and values through all professional communications and the maintenance of positive working relationships. Essential Functions: Responsible for overseeing client relationships in regard to tax matters, as well as coordinating the delivery of other services, developing business proposals and other supervisory and administrative duties as required. Develops and nurtures long-term relationships with client senior Maintains contact with clients throughout the year; possesses a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of client’s business. Proactively and effectively identified clients’ needs. Provides on-the-job training, reviews complex tax accruals and tax returns prepared by staff. Develops solutions for clients and champions the implementation of ideas. Reviews and confirms assignment objectives, scope and work plan with Seeks regular client assessment of assignment progress and overall feedback on performance/value Identifies assignment resource requirements and ensures the most appropriate resources are assigned to specific assignment Assists with the development of training programs and acts as instructor in professional development programs. Anticipates identifies and resolves complex assignment Develops assignment budgets for review by the assignment partner, monitors realization, utilization and accounts receivable progress. Works with the partner group to generate leads, contacts and sales – including developing and closing assignment Oversees a group of staff, and is responsible for managing their daily activities and career Manages the group to ensure profitability in the short and long Evaluates the performances of staff and provides verbal and written feedback Supports the partner team in identifying and promoting the development of new delivery capabilities and/or channels to satisfy evolving market requirements. Supports the partner team in the development and planning of practice unit strategy, objectives, and budgets. Development of industry expertise and profiling of the Identifies and develops new initiatives to increase retention, meet resourcing needs, utilization and people development. Education and Experience: Degree qualification and relevant professional accreditation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong business acumen Strong technical knowledge and expertise. Functional/industry Developing an industry profile. Strong selling skills – generating leads, making contacts and securing clients. Strong project management and leadership skills including the ability to successfully coach and mentor talented people. A thorough understanding of firm products and services in the practice area, with a working knowledge of firm products and services in other practice areas.
