Registered Nurse, Medical Intensive Care Unit B, 36 Hours (Nights / Rotating Weekend)

Position Registered Nurse – Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) – 36 hours, nights/rotating weekend. About the Unit Boston Medical Center has two MICUs: MICU A with 17 beds and MICU B with 10 beds. The units care for the most acute medical patients, including multisystem failure, renal failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and sepsis. Responsibilities Deliver nursing care in the Critical Care unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients. Communicate with various health‑care team members, patients, and families. Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient‑care activities to inter‑professional colleagues. Update and manage patient records. Enter and interpret computerized data/information. Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization. Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects. Requirements Active or pending Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license, or the ability to obtain one. 1+ year of RN experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required for certain units. Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred). Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years. Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Physical ability to meet job responsibilities. Basic computer proficiency. Fluency in another language a plus. Benefits Competitive pay.
