Peer Support Specialist

Do you have lived experience with mental illness, or a substance use disorder, and are far enough along in your recovery that you are ready to help others who have similar lived experiences. Coleman Health Services is seeking full-time Peer Support Specialists in Stark County, Ohio. Encourage residents to meet specified goals and objectives. Chart client progress daily through residential progress notes. Maintain clean environment in the home and follow the shift responsibilities and cleaning schedule assignments. Act as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in personal recovery and the use of coping skills, serving as an advocate, and providing information about peer support in outpatient and settings. Perform a wide range of tasks to help peers regain independence within the community and ownership over their own recovery process by using a variety of techniques. Peer Support Requirements: High school diploma Completed state peer support training or willingness to complete such training Lived experience in mental illness or substance use Able to cope with mental and emotional stress related to work with persons who are experiencing mental health concerns and crisis Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or protected veteran status.
