Job Overview The University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) under Rutgers University seeks a Part‑Time Technician I for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ. The Technician I is a member of the clinical and administrative medical team and works on a 20‑hour per week schedule. Responsibilities Take vital signs, height and weight, and document in the electronic medical record (EMR). Assist the physician or associate practitioner with procedures, including preparing inmates for examinations. Collect and handle specimens, including drawing blood. Assist with cleaning, sterilization, and securing equipment within the Health Service Unit. Maintain or assist in maintaining supply stock in the Health Service Unit and examination rooms, ordering supplies timely and appropriately. Aggregate medication orders and forward to the pharmacy provider or local pharmacy. Qualifications Valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification. At least two (2) years of progressively responsible related healthcare experience involving multiple areas of knowledge, skill, and abilities. Certifications & Licenses CPR certification. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites using own vehicle or alternative transportation. Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be able to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes and lift/rotate patients who cannot ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Requires approval by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adherence to DOC requirements. Salary & Benefits Salary range: Minimum $20.410, Mid range $20.910, Maximum $21.540 per hour.
