Land Development Project Manager

Spalding DeDecker is seeking a Land Development Project Manager to join our Rochester Hills office as part of our Land Development Department. In this position, the selected candidate will lead complex and high-level engineering efforts for the Land Development team, supporting both current K-12 public school projects and emerging growth sectors such as health care, senior assisted living, and private commercial, retail, or office developments. This position reports directly to the Director of the Land Development Department. Candidates should be self-starting, motivated professionals with strong technical and managerial competency, capable of performing skilled engineering work with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate has experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, developing client relationships, and pursuing new business opportunities within targeted markets. The ability to leverage existing client contacts to introduce Spalding DeDecker to new project opportunities is a plus, and successful performance in this role offers significant potential for future growth within the company. Typical Duties & Responsibilities Manage civil site development projects Lead a team of engineers and designers on the projects Manage projects to a profit while meeting all deadlines with quality. Maintain and expand client relationships Actively participate in the development of business from existing and new clients, and develop and write proposals for new projects Selling the services offered by the department as outlined in the Growth Plan Developed for this Market or as directed by the Director of the department or the President. May organize and conduct presentations and interviews for procuring new clients, develop workload forecasting documents, and organize a constructive workload schedule to manage all projects to the budget and schedule of delivery dictated by the contract. Represents Spalding DeDecker at networking events, conferences, public meetings, and within the community Provides mentorship and training for junior staff Actively recruit new hires for the team as well as manage and develop existing team members. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Current professional engineering license in the State of Michigan The ideal candidate will have 10 years of experience specific to land development projects (Preferred) 5 years of experience specific to land development projects (Required) Ability to work independently as a project manager and as part of our land development group Work Environment / Physical Demands Individuals must be willing to: Work in an office environment Attend client meetings and travel by car and/or plane if the project requires it Perform project site visits Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
