Position Summary

As the first point of contact for our clients, the Veterinary Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring every visit is positive and efficient. This position requires excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and their pets with warmth and professionalism.
• Answer incoming phone calls and respond to emails and text messages.
• Schedule appointments and manage the daily appointment calendar.
• Check patients in and out accurately.
• Process payments and balance the cash drawer at the end of the day.
• Maintain accurate client and patient medical records.
• Explain hospital policies and services accurately.
• Coordinate communication between clients and veterinary staff.
• Assist with prescription refill requests and appointment reminders.
• Keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Handle difficult situations with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
• Support the veterinary team with administrative tasks as needed.
  

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Veterinary front office experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn veterinary practice management software.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment.
• Comfortable around dogs, cats, and other companion animals.
• Professional appearance and positive attitude.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with veterinary software (Avimark, EzyVet, Cornerstone, or similar).
• Knowledge of basic veterinary terminology.
• Experience handling multiple phone lines.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds when needed.
• Comfortable working around animals of various sizes and temperaments.
