Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse is based in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing post-operative recovery care to adult and pediatric patients across various surgical specialties. Candidates must possess a valid license and bring their license on the first day. The position offers a rotating shift schedule, primarily Monday through Friday days, with possible rotations to weekends and night shifts.

• Minimum Hours per Week: 36 hours

• Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Minimum of 2 years experience. Prior PACU experience preferred; level 1 trauma PACU experience preferred. Experience with respiratory therapy (ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, etc), reading strips, electronic medical record (EMR) systems (EPIC), and managing ICU recoveries is required.
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts weekly (if scheduled as 0.9 FTE), or four 10-hour shifts (if scheduled as 1.0 FTE). Pre-op shifts start at 0530; PACU shifts start between 0730 and 1000.
• Additional Information: The unit has 20 PACU beds, including pre-op and Phase II bays. Patient ratios include 1:3 in pre-op and Phase II, and 1:2 in PACU. The team comprises approximately 5 PCAs in pre-op, 2 in PACU, and 2 in Phase II. ICU patient recoveries are managed based on throughput and capacity. Charge nurses generally do not take assignments but may do so when necessary. Typical holidays and call shifts are around 20 hours per month, with a response time of one hour. Floating to other units within the hospital may be required.
