Forensic Documentation Representative Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Automotive Program (AP) Supervisor I, the Forensic Documentation Representative performs a full range of laboratory, office, and field duties related to the regulation of the automotive repair industry. The role involves forensic vehicle documentation, technical resource support, and transportation of undercover vehicles. Location Santa Clara County (Gilroy, CA) Job Details Classification: AUTOMOTIVE PROGRAM REPRESENTATIVE Salary: $5,873.00 – $8,008.00 per month Type: Permanent, Full Time Work Hours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday Telework: In Office Responsibilities Perform undercover vehicle documentation within a Forensic Documentation Laboratory, inspecting automotive components and reporting conditions. Determine that components and vehicle systems are functioning within manufacturer specifications. Research technical specifications and testing procedures contained in manufacturer technical resources. Drive a transporter and deliver the undercover vehicle during the investigation process, including loading and unloading vehicles. Perform post‑investigation inspection, document the results, and prepare a report. Provide expert court testimony as an expert witness for Bureau Investigations. Maintain the undercover vehicle fleet. Qualifications Proficiency in automotive repair practices, including the operation and inspection of automotive equipment. Ability to research technical specifications, purchase parts, keep accurate inventory records, and prepare reports. Strong analytical skills and sound judgment in decision making. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional demeanor. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with colleagues. Positive attitude, highly motivated, and organized. Computer proficiency to support daily tasks. Special Requirements Valid California driver’s license (CDL) with required documentation. Medical clearance prior to hiring. Successful random drug testing for controlled substances and alcohol as required by state and federal regulations.
