Solutions Architect

Salary: $120,000 - 180,000 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for someone with 15+ years of experience across defense and/or civil space programs, covering mission operations, ground systems engineering, and/or satellite command and control.
• We need proven experience designing or leading Mission Operations Centers, satellite ground systems, and/or antenna network solutions.
• We expect a full lifecycle background that spans console operations, ground system design, integration, testing, and on-orbit support.
• We require prior involvement in business development, capture, or proposal work, including writing technical material for competitive solicitations.
• We value working knowledge of architecture approaches and frameworks such as DODAF and MOSA, along with familiarity with Agile/DevOps environments.
• We need strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior government customers, acquisition professionals, and technical teams.
• We value familiarity with AI/ML concepts and AI-enabled tools and workflows as applied to mission operations, engineering, and business development.
• We require U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• We ask for willingness to travel periodically to customer sites, industry events, and our Tempe, Arizona headquarters.
• A bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical field is preferred, with an advanced degree or equivalent experience considered a plus.
• Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred.
• Direct experience with USSF, NASA, and/or NOAA mission and ground architectures is highly desirable.
• Experience across multiple orbital regimes and program risk levels, from Class A missions to prototype and R&D efforts, is preferred.
• Prior leadership roles such as chief engineer, program manager, or capture manager on space or ground system programs are preferred.
• A history of writing winning technical volumes for large solicitations is preferred.
• Experience with RF/antenna systems, TT&C, and ground station operations and maintenance is preferred.
• Formal training or certification in AI/ML, program management, or Agile methodologies is preferred.

• We will have you design end-to-end solutions for spacecraft Mission Operations Centers, command and control ground systems, and antenna or ground station networks for government and commercial customers.
• We will rely on you to turn customer mission operations and ground system needs into solution architectures that leverage our OrbitCmd powered by Leanspace platform, products, and integration capabilities.
• You will serve as our senior technical representative in customer engagements, leading architecture discussions, technical exchanges, design reviews, and briefings with senior government and industry stakeholders.
• You will partner with our business development and capture teams to assess opportunities, shape win themes, and build technical strategies for new and existing customers.
• You will author and review technical volumes, white papers, capability briefs, and architecture artifacts for proposals and solicitation responses.
• You will develop reference architectures and system designs using industry and DoD frameworks such as DODAF and MOSA, together with modern Agile/DevOps practices.
• You will assess and incorporate emerging technologies, including AI/ML-enabled tools and automation, into mission operations and ground system solutions.
• You will lead trade studies, requirements definition, interface analyses, and technical risk assessments for new missions and system upgrades.
• You will work alongside our program managers, engineers, and mission operators to ensure proposed solutions are practical, affordable, and aligned with our capabilities.
• You will mentor engineering staff and help strengthen our technical baseline, architecture standards, and solution development processes.
• You will represent our company at industry days, conferences, and networking events such as USSF events, AFCEA, Space Symposium, and the Ground System Architectures Workshop.
