Overview Painter/Finisher Specialist - Plant Operations - 12354 Location: US: LA: Hammond | Trade and Support Services | Full Time Posted 6 months ago Description Status: Full Time Shift: 06:00 - 16:30 Tuesday - Friday Exempt: No Experience, Knowledge and Skill Previous Experience Required: Construction experience in hospital and/or other facility preferred, which should include hands-on experience in general commercial construction framing and finishing. Specialized or Technical Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and knowledge in general construction required. Requires considerable knowledge of all tools and how to operate them to do the following types of work: carpentry, metal, ceiling, floors, repairing of doors and assorted hardware. Manual or Physical Skill Required: Requires considerable hand-eye coordination. Must be able to properly operate electronic and mechanical devices. Physical Effort Required: Frequent walking and climbing of stairs and ladders, intermittent stooping, bending and crawling while making repairs to equipment, steady muscular exertion, demanding considerable strength ability to lift 100 lbs. Work Complexities Complexity and Difficulty of Work: In order to handle the variety of task the incumbent of this position must be mentally quick enough to accurately assess problems and determine solutions, which often require the unique and ingenious combination of post known and familiarity with constantly advancing technique. Seriousness of Errors: Maintenance errors may cause needless delays, may cause avoidable replacement of costly equipment and in certain circumstance may threaten bodily harm or even death. Working Conditions Handling dangerous chemicals, threatening acid burns and also includes possibility of falling while climbing ladders to reach equipment, electric shock, oxygen combustion and exposure to excessive heat, hazards exist with the use of mechanical equipment. Contacts Contacts with Customers, the General Public or Other Companies: This position requires contact with patients, employees, and the general public and with other companies. Contacts with Other Departments: This position requires frequent contact with other departments and often with Department Directors. E. Responsibilities Responsibility for the safety of others: Incumbent is responsible for maintaining orderly use of personal and company equipment. Responsibility for Company Funds or Property: Incumbent is responsible for properly using and maintaining company equipment. Responsibility for Confidential Information Responsibility for Performance of Work without immediate supervisor: Much of the work required in this position is done without direct or immediate supervision. The ability to work independently is essential. Responsibility for the Supervision of Others: The incumbent is not responsible for direct supervision however the employee is often called upon to provide advice and expertise related to other job performance. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Prepare walls and other surface for Painting. Build new walls made of metal studs and gypsum board. Float and finish gypsum board. Installation of suspended ceiling tile. Installation of vinyl floor tile. Build and/or install millwork. General knowledge of plastic laminate work (patch repair or new). Build, patch, repair or replace any type of wooden item (furniture, cabinets, shelves, counter tops, etc.). Assist fellow employees in any type of maintenance or repairs needed. Maintains and helps clean the shop area and tools. Keeps supply of materials on job site. Observes all safety regulations and practices. Performs additional duties as required, as necessary and as directed. Cooperates and works with fellow employees.
