Lead VDI Systems Engineer

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 7+ years of systems engineering and enterprise VDI deployment experience; alternatively, a masters degree with 5+ years, an associates degree with 9+ years, or a high school diploma with 11+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience leading the design, administration, and technical support of enterprise-scale VDI environments using VMware Horizon, Omnissa, or Citrix.
• Strong background in hyperconverged infrastructure, virtual storage management (vSAN/SAN), Active Directory Group Policies (GPOs), and virtual desktop optimization.
• Experience maintaining system baselines, configuration management controls, and automated patching schedules.
• Experience creating, maintaining, and communicating complex engineering documentation and virtual infrastructure architecture diagrams.
• Must hold a current, active Top Secret security clearance.
• Preferred: Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional – Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP), Citrix Certified Associate/Professional (CCA-V/CCP-V), or CompTIA Security+.
• Preferred: Experience supporting U.S. Military Command operations, Combatant Command environments, or Department of Defense enterprise technical environments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with DoD STIG compliance, user profile management tools such as App Volumes and DEM/UEM, and automated software deployment platforms.
• Preferred: Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams in fast-paced operational environments.
• Must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time and occasionally move around the office to access file cabinets and equipment.
• Must be able to communicate frequently with coworkers, management, and customers, including delivering presentations, and exchange accurate information.

• Lead the architectural design, deployment, administration, and performance optimization of enterprise VDI solutions, including VMware Horizon and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
• Manage virtual application delivery, golden image maintenance, user profile orchestration, and hypervisor baseline infrastructure.
• Work with technical teams, system administrators, and leadership to establish desktop virtualization strategies and integration baselines.
• Perform root-cause analysis, advanced system diagnostics, and performance troubleshooting across virtual desktop environments.
• Maintain system baselines, configuration management records, patch schedules, and virtual infrastructure engineering documentation.
• Plan storage capacity, optimize host hypervisors, and verify security compliance across VDI cluster deployments.
• Recommend and implement engineering process improvements to streamline VDI provisioning and improve the user experience.
